The 37th Annual Kansas City Wide Open Presented by Discraft will be having a flymart on Friday, June 14 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Martin City Brewing Company – The Pub. Located at 500 E 135th St, Kansas City, MO 64145 in Martin City. There will be happy hour specials during that time for drinks and food. Disc golf vendors are being organized now by Eric Eastwood. Please contact him for available space if you are interested in participating. After your round is over come by and check out the awesome disc golf gear available and have a beer.
The Kansas City Flying Disc Club will be holding a one round flex start mini on Monday, June 10, starting at 2:30 at beautiful Water Works Park.
1. Everyone plays in one division – anyone can play, regardless of whether they are registered for the KCWO/MPO division.
2. Every card starts on hole 1.
3. The course layout for the 37th Annual Kansas City Wide Open presented by Discraft will be used.
4. All PDGA rules will be enforced.
5. The last card out will be no later than 6:00.
You may abandon your round and start over.
If a player abandons the round leaving just two players on a card, those two players may continue to play if they have a third person walking with them (and they agree the person can act as an official – the person does NOT need to be a PDGA certified official). Otherwise, those players will need to join a card ahead or behind them.
Add a buck for non-club members.
Add a buck for the ace fund. The ace fund is ONLY for this mini; no league ace funds carry over. If there is no ace hit during this mini, the proceeds will go to the KCWO.
The payout will be all cash. The top 40% will be paid.
$10 to payout. $5 to the club/Kansas City Wide Open.
The player with the best score that is registered for the MPO division of the KCWO will also win a spot on the feature card for the first round of the KCWO, to be videoed and produced by our good friends at JomezPro!
In case of a tie for the feature card spot, the players will immediately have a playoff – so if you’re hot, stick around! I’ll continually update scores in case you need to come back. The playoff will be a sudden death loop – hole 1, 7, 8, 9, 10 then back to 1.
KC Wide Open Player’s Party / Check-In
June 13th, 2019 4pm-9pm @ BKS Artisan Ales
Check-In and Players’ Party for the KCWO will be held on Thursday June 13th, 2019 from 4pm-9pm at BKS Artisan Ales, in Brookside, MO. This is going to be an event you do not want to miss. If you can not make it Thursday night, you will be able to check-in at your course an hour before your tee time.
There will be FREE FOOD for everyone playing in the event, catered by Pizza 51 in Brookside, MO. For those people traveling with non players, we will accept a $5 donation at the check-in tent, located on the patio. Local disc golfers not playing in the event are encouraged to attend. You will just need to pay the $5 donation.
The really cool news, for those of you who enjoy craft beer, BKS and Dick Parker #20250 have collaborated on a new beer releasing that night called the “Wide Open Pale Ale”. This beer is an extremely approachable New England style Pale Ale which is hoppy, hazy, golden and delicious. Brewed with an ridiculous amount of Citra and Mosaic hops.
Not only will this beer be available on tap that night, we will also have a limited number of togo cans for sale so you can take a piece of the Wide Open with you. These cans will feature artwork from the 2019 KCWO!
Please note that BKS is a Card Only establishment. So there are NO CASH sales. For those Cash Only customers. Dick Parker will have a tab going that you can funnel your cash through if you need to. He will be available throughout the party.
We’re 3 weeks from the close of registration on June 7th and 4 weeks from the beginning of the tournament on June 14th. There’s 9 spots left in the amateur B Pool, and we predict that these will be filled by next week. If you have not registered but want to play in a B Pool division, I would highly recommend registering sooner rather than later as this pool will most likely fill next week. There’s still plenty of spots left in the pro A Pool.
Speaking of the A pool, the tournament staff is proud to announce that $1000 will be added to the event, split between the MPO and FPO divisions. This will be in addition to the $3000 added cash required by the PDGA. Stay tuned for further updates as we get closer to the event!
